How a system converts energy into electricity
The solar module converts a portion of the sun’s energy into DC electricity and this electricity, or specifically the current, travels to the battery via a conductor - usually copper wire. The battery stores the current as amperage, similar to a gas tank storing gasoline. A battery is also designed to produce voltage which, when combined with amperage, gives power. The battery power may be used at any time to operate devices connected to the battery. When a battery is receiving and storing current from the solar module, the battery is referred to as being charged or charging.
A complete Solar System
Click on the presentation below to use our interactive "Solar Set Up" diagram and learn how solar is integrated in your RV's electrical system. You can choose to interact with the diagram: 1. slide by slide, just press the button or 2. Zoom in and out of the images by clicking inside the RV or descriptions. You will see the connection between the solar module, solar controller, battery, inverter, converter charger and more!
